Hashoo Trust’s healthcare program is dedicated to supporting vulnerable segments of society by providing affordable healthcare services and facilitating connections with hospitals and healthcare centers, both physically and through online platforms. The integration of telemedicine into the program design is a notable advancement.
Since its inception in 1988, the healthcare program has reached 612,997 beneficiaries (344,297 males and 268,700 females). The program’s initiatives trace back to the 2005 devastating earthquake in District Mansehra and other regions of KP. During this period, the organization provided extensive support to the affected populations, including food and non-food items, warm clothing, medicines, and evacuation to safe areas. Moreover, shelters, bedding, and blankets were provided to approximately 80,000 individuals in District Mansehra and Swat of the KP province.
The organization has been particularly involved with Spinal Cord Injured Patients (SCIPs) since the 2005 earthquake. The organization continues to support 83 SCIPs through SCIPPER—a voluntary group of Pakistani medical doctors in the USA—who provide financial assistance for medical and food expenses of these chronic patients.
Awareness creation is another critical area where Hashoo Trust collaborates with like-minded medical entities. These sessions focus on preventive measures for diseases such as waterborne illnesses, breast cancer, and pandemics, emphasizing early symptom detection and timely treatment to save lives.
During the flash floods and COVID-19 pandemic, Hashoo Trust mobilized resources to support thousands of affected communities. The organization provided essential food and non-food items, medicines, and hygiene kits. In addition, we installed handwashing stations in public places across various regions of the country to promote hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases.
Moreover, Hashoo Trust has implemented innovative measures to ensure quality yet affordable healthcare for marginalized communities, particularly those in disaster-affected regions. One such initiative is the introduction of an online healthcare system, which connects patients in remote areas with highly qualified doctors.
