Disaster Risk Reduction

Protect Communities By Enhancing Resilience

Overview:

Disaster preparedness sits at the heart of Hashoo Trust’s mission, addressing the growing challenges faced by communities living in disaster-prone areas across Pakistan. From mountainous regions to flat plains, we have empowered over 33,000 individuals to face natural and other disasters with knowledge, skills, and resources.

Global warming’s impact has fueled an increase in devastating floods and glacier outbursts, displacing communities, destroying infrastructure, and jeopardizing food security. Recognizing this threat, Hashoo Trust’s multi-dimensional approach to Disaster Risk Reduction tackles these challenges head-on.

A Safer Tomorrow

Our flagship “A Safer Tomorrow” project focused on schools, training 28,435 individuals across two phases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. We collaborated with 45 schools to create School Safety Plans, conduct risk assessments, develop hazard maps, and establish contingency plans. Parents and teachers played a crucial role, forming and activating Parent Teacher Councils to advocate for school safety improvements.

Community-Based Disaster Risk Management

Our UNDP-sponsored project empowered 4,778 people in Chitral through Community-Based Disaster Risk Management. This initiative fostered collaboration, risk awareness, and preparedness within communities, further strengthening their resilience.

Partnering with organizations like the European Union (DEPICHO), Hope’87, and UNDP, we have amplified our reach and impact. Our dedicated team, with extensive experience in Disaster Risk Reduction, ensures effective project implementation and management.
