Meherangez, a resilient 45-year-old mother from Gilgit, has been shouldering the responsibilities of her family for the past 12 years. Her life took a challenging turn when her husband disappeared, leaving her as the sole breadwinner for her two children. Her younger son, Ali Hasnain, is mentally challenged, and Meherangez tirelessly searched for medical facilities or specialized schools in her remote area to support him.
In 2023, Meherangez reached out to Hashoo Trust for help, as she was facing increasing financial hardship. After a thorough initial assessment, our dedicated team took action. They connected her son Ali Hasnain to an online healthcare facility in Rawalpindi, ensuring he receives the essential medical attention he requires. Hashoo Trust continues to provide monthly assistance, covering the cost of prescribed medicines, easing the burden on Meherangez’s shoulders.
Recognizing the family’s vulnerable economic situation, Hashoo Trust extended further support by providing financial assistance to help sustain their household for an entire year, giving Meherangez the time to find a steady source of income to support her family.
Meherangez’s elder son, Ali Aqdas, deeply affected by his younger brother’s challenges and his mother’s struggles, found hope with Hashoo Trust’s intervention. Under the Educate A Student program, Ali Aqdas was relocated to Rawalpindi, where he could pursue his education. Today, thanks to the generosity of our Educate A Child program’s donors, Ali Aqdas receives comprehensive support, including coverage for his tuition fees, hostel charges, and other related expenses, ensuring he can continue his education with determination and optimism. Meherangez’s story is a testament to the transformative power of support and the positive impact it can have on individuals and families facing adversity.
